A winner in the pipeline

Alexei Brazhnik, an engineer from St Petersburg, Russia, inspecting the new London Water Ring Main in Hanworth, west London, yesterday. Mr Brazhnik won a two-week trip to Britain in a BBC World Service competition 28 years ago but was refused an exit visa until earlier this year. The bicycle is used to get around the 50-mile tunnel
