The Director of Public Prosecutions has been given leave to appeal against the sentence imposed on Susan Christie, a former member of the Ulster Defence Regiment, who was jailed for five years for manslaughter.

She was acquitted of murdering the wife of her lover, Duncan McAllister, an officer in the Royal Signals. The trial was told that she slashed Penny McAllister across the throat while they were out walking.
