Businessman arrested after 14-hour gun siege

A BUSINESSMAN awaiting sentence for exporting aircraft parts to Libya was arrested yesterday after a 14-hour armed siege at his home.

Anthony Fox, 57, gave himself up to armed police after emerging from the garden shed at his home in Wilson, Leicestershire.

Last night he was being questioned at Coalville police station.

Last month, Leicester Crown Court was told that Fox, who ran a business from his home, exported aircraft parts to Libya in violation of a United Nations trade ban imposed after the Lockerbie air disaster in December 1988.

Fox admitted being knowingly concerned in the exportation of aircraft components prohibited by the Libya (UN Sanctions) Order 1992 between February and April last year. He also admitted attempted exportation between June and July last year.
