Canoe tragedy trial
Two men charged with manslaughter following the deaths of four schoolchildren canoeing while at an activity centre were committed for trial at Winchester Crown Court. Joseph Stoddart, 53, former manager of the St Alban's Centre, Lyme Regis, Dorset, and Peter Kite, 44, managing director of the centre's then owners, Active Learning and Leisure, were granted bail at Weymouth magistrates' court.
