Cardinal Martini of Milan, the Jesuit who is the liberals' favourite to become the next Pope, arriving at Canterbury Cathedral, Kent, with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr George Carey. The Cardinal's visit, which included preaching a sermon in the cathedral, may help to thaw the frosty relationship between the Churches caused by the Church of England's ordination of women priests and the subsequent decisions of disaffected priests to join the Roman Catholic Church
