MORE THAN 1 million people attended the Notting Hill Carnival in west London during the Bank Holiday weekend, making it the busiest in the event's 29-year history.

This year's carnival was also one of the most peaceful. Early this morning, police said the total number of arrests during the two-day event had risen to 62, mainly for public order offences and possession of drugs.
