A vicar and his parishioners are going to Consistory Court in an attempt to get permission to sell church silverware, which is more than 370 years old and valued at about 300,000 pounds. The Rev Peter Barnett of St Paul's Church, Bristol, said the money was needed to help develop an inner city church and provide a community centre. The Council for the Care of Churches opposes the sale and says the silverware is of outstanding historic importance to the country.
