Arms dealer jailed over missile sale
An arms dealer who legally sold the serial killer Michael Ryan a rifle used in the 1987 Hungerford massacre has been jailed for trying to export arms to Azerbaijan.
Michael Ranger, 65, was sentenced to three and a half years at Southwark Crown Court for setting up a deal to sell missiles and handguns. Azerbaijan is subject to an arms embargo. Ranger, from Bishop's Stortford, denied arms trafficking.
He used false email accounts and a company registered in Hong Kong in his girlfriend's name to cover his tracks.
