A babysitter who had sex with an 11-year-old boy under her care has said she “falls in love too quickly.”

Jade Hatt, 21, avoided jail and was sentenced to a six month suspended sentence after the unidentified boy’s father – who she has also slept with – defended her in court.

Swindon Crown court heard that in November last year Hatt undressed the schoolboy, straddled him and then had sex, in an incident lasting 45-seconds.

The boy, who claimed Hatt told him she had “enjoyed it”, said he felt “it was wrong.”

But the boy’s father claimed his son was “fully up for it” and saw it as a “notch on his belt”.

Following the court case, Hatt, from Swindon, told The Sun she “falls in love too quickly.”

She confessed she “wasn’t sure” what had made her sleep with the boy and said she knew "what I’ve done is really, really wrong but it’s never going to happen again."

Hatt, who is unemployed, added: “He told me he was older and I believed it. I thought he was 16 or 17 because he is taller and acts older."

Presiding Judge Tim Mousley QC said the case was exceptional and Hatt was not a “typical 20-year-old.”

"Having read everything before me, it was quite clear he was a mature 11-year-old and you were an immature 20-year-old so that narrows the arithmetic age gap between you.”

Child abuse campaigners branded the verdict “deeply worrying”. An NSPCC spokesperson adding: “Effects of child sexual abuse can be long-lasting.”

Judge Mousley also ruled Hatt must register as a sex offender for seven years.
