Bradford stabbing: 14-year-old boy admits to stabbing supply teacher Vincent Uzomah in classroom

A 14-year-old boy has admitted to stabbing supply teacher Vincent Uzomah in a Bradford classroom.

The teenager, who cannot be named, was arrested after he stabbed 50-year-old Uzomah in a science lesson with a knife he had in the Dixons Kings Academy on 11 June.

Mr Uzomah was left with a single wound to the stomach.

The teenager has denied attempted murder but admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

His plea was accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service at Bradford crown court on Monday. Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said the teenager will be sentenced at a later date.

Mr Uzomah was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was said to be in a stable condition after the attack.

He is understood to have been a supply teacher at the school for around four weeks when the incident happened.

The teenager was later caught after a short manhunt in Bradford city centre, and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder by West Yorkshire police.
