A video has been released that shows the moment two heartless thieves stole the purse of a wheelchair-bound pensioner as she shopped in a hardware store in Northamptonshire.

The shocking CCTV footage released by Northamptonshire Police over the weekend, captures a woman wearing a pink jacket take the 71-year-old’s purse from the back of her wheelchair at the Wilko store in Rushden on 7 January.

According to police, the woman rummaged around in the bag for several seconds before she grabbed the 71-year-old’s purse which is said to have contained just over £100.

Police are now searching for the two suspects and have called on anyone with any information to contact them.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: 'Officers investigating the case would like to speak to anyone who was in the store at that time and saw the couple, or who knows who they are.'
