Coroner: cut red tape for gun police

Police marksmen are so burdened by red tape that they cannot "see the wood for the trees", a coroner said yesterday.

Paul Knapman, who oversaw the inquest into the death of the barrister Mark Saunders, told the Home Secretary, Theresa May,that senior officers must encourage "common sense", not a "slavish adherence" to rules.
