Footage has emerged showing a confrontation between a cyclist and van driver after the two vehicles came into contact with each other.

The video filmed on the cyclist’s helmet camera begins with the van and the bicycle travelling side by side down a narrow road in the Hornchurch, east London.

As the van passes, the two vehicles make contact, causing the cyclist to fall off his bike and onto the pavement.

The driver, who is seen wearing a hi-vis jacket, then leaves his vehicle and approaches the cyclist.

Expletives are exchanged between the two and a confrontation breaks out.

Essex Police reported that a man believed to be the van driver attended a Chelmsford Police Station this morning to give his account of the incident.

The Metropolitan police are currently investigating.
