The Little Britain star David Walliams was obsessively stalked by a woman who repeatedly tried to contact him with aggressive and sexually explicit messages after being ordered not to, Highbury Corner magistrates' court in London has heard.

Sarah Bartholomew, 29, from Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, pleaded guilty last month to harassing Mr Walliams between last October and February this year, and was released on bail. In 2004, she began hanging around the BBC, where he worked, as well as his home. She sent him letters and gifts, including toys, chocolates and underwear. In one message she said: "I'd rip off your pants in a sexual frenzy."

She also bombarded his agent with text messages.

She was arrested on 3 May for witness intimidation, after Mr Walliams' solicitors had ordered her to stop contacting him. After being bailed, she continued sending messages and was arrested and remanded in custody. Her case was adjourned until 20 June.
