A driver was shot in his armpit during a road-rage incident early yesterday.

The 26-year-old victim was driving his blue Ford Puma in Brixton, south London, when he became involved in a "driving or parking dispute" with another motorist in a blue Chrysler Grand Voyager.

Police said he tried to park but moved on when unable to do so. The other driver asked him why he had been holding up traffic. Moments later the victim, from Streatham, south London, approached the Chrysler at a junction. In the ensuing argument he was shot with a handgun.

Police spotted a Chrysler nearby and arrested a 42-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman. They were taken to separate police stations for questioning. A male passenger was still being sought.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was due to have surgery to remove the bullet. His condition was described as "stable".
