The former Auditor General of Wales has been arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images, it has emerged.

Jeremy Colman, 61, resigned with immediate effect as head of Wales's public spending watchdog last Wednesday.

His sudden departure came amid allegations that pornography had been found on his work laptop.

South Wales Police said the following day that it had been called in to investigate, and yesterday said a 61-year-old man from the Vale of Glamorgan had been arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images.

Mr Colman, of Dinas Powys, in the Vale of Glamorgan, resigned from the £170,000-a-year spending watchdog without giving a reason.

The Wales Audit Office said later in a statement that he had gone after "an internal review around matters of personal conduct".

Mr Colman has been bailed until March 3 pending further inquiries.
