The ex-girlfriend of Raoul Moat has recalled the horrifying moment when he shot her new boyfriend dead, then turned his shotgun on her.

Moat, 37, fired at Samantha Stobbart, 22, through the glass window of a friend's home in Birtley, Gateshead.

Ms Stobbart wept as she told Newcastle Crown Court how Moat had suddenly arrived and started shooting on 3 July last year. She said: "I just seen Raoul jump up. I think he came from the window. He just appeared... I heard two shots. When I looked out the window it was done."

Ms Stobbart was giving evidence at the trial of two men alleged to have been the accomplices of Moat during his rampage. Karl Ness, 26, and Qhuram Awan, 23, deny conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, a firearms offence and robbery.

The trial continues.
