'Jealous detective attacked policewoman partner'
A police inspector told a jury today that the married detective sergeant she lived with assaulted her after becoming jealous about an affair.
Amanda Lowe, who is in her mid-30s, said Detective Sergeant Adrian Ramdat had "anger management issues" and was "intimidated" by the fact that she had been in a relationship with a high-ranking officer.
All three officers were members of the City of London Police force, Basildon Crown Court heard.
Ms Lowe referred to the "high-ranking" officer only as "Steve" and did not give his rank.
Ramdat, 40, denies twice assaulting Ms Lowe during summer last year. Both officers were living in Chafford Hundred, Essex, when the assaults were alleged to have happened.
Ms Lowe told jurors that she worked in the "fraud department".
She said Ramdat worked for Essex Police before moving to the City of London.
She said that before beginning a relationship with Ramdat she had a relationship with a "high-ranking officer".
She said that relationship ended because the officer "decided to stay with his wife".
She said "Steve" was Ramdat's "ultimate line manager" and that she and Steve had "remained friends".
Ms Lowe said she met Ramdat when she attended a training course. He was a trainer in London in April 2007.
She said they started going out straight away and that he moved in with her two weeks later.
She said she was aware that Ramdat was married but he told her that he and his wife had "not had a sexual relationship for some time" and were "living separate lives".
She said Ramdat also ran a private company which offered training in interview procedures and "surveillance procedures".
Ms Lowe said she told Ramdat about her previous relationship with "Steve" soon after they started going out.
She said Ramdat was "possessive" and her previous relationship "started to cause problems".
