Louise Mensch claims hackers threatened her children
Monday 22 August 2011
A Tory MP contacted police today over claims that computer hackers made online death threats to her children.
Louise Mensch wrote on Twitter that she had been emailed by "morons", blaming hacking groups Anonymous or LulzSec.
Scotland Yard confirmed it had been contacted over a complaint from the 40-year-old MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire.
The Culture, Media and Sport Committee member tweeted: "Had some morons from Anonymous/Lulzsec threaten my children by email.
"To those who sent it; get stuffed losers. I have contacted the police via the House of Commons and the email is with them now. I don't bully easily, kids. Or in fact at all.
"Oh and I am posting it on Twitter because they threatened me to get off Twitter."
Officers are yet to launch a formal investigation over the threat, it is understood.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We can confirm the Met has received an email this morning making allegations of malicious communications."
