Man arrested after ponies shot dead

A man has been arrested after two ponies were found shot dead, police said.

The 52-year-old was arrested yesterday evening after police were called to the Millers Dale area of Tideswell, near Buxton, Derbyshire, to reports the animals had been shot dead.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: "I would like to reassure members of the community that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat of any further occurrences."
