Man charged over death of 16-year-old boy

Police last night charged a 21-year-old man in connection with the murder of teenager Liam Aitchison on the Isle of Lewis.

His body was found in a derelict property in Steinish near Stornoway. It is the first murder investigation on the island for more than 40 years. Liam, 16, who was originally from Uist, was last seen in Stornoway's Anderson Road area on 22 November.

A second man, aged 20, arrested and questioned by police yesterday has also been held in custody. Liam's family said in a statement that his death was "heartbreaking".
