Man dies in hit and run incident

A man has died in a suspected hit and run incident, police said today.
Police and paramedics attended the A273 London Road in Hassocks, West Sussex, at 4.37am to reports of a male lying in the road.
Sussex Police said the male was found to be dead while debris from a collision with a vehicle was found at the scene.
The road remains closed and is likely to remain so for most of the morning.
A hit and run fatal collision investigation has been launched and police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a vehicle with collision damage, or someone examining their vehicle, to contact them on 0845 6070999, quoting Operation Primary.
