A man will appear before magistrates today over an incident in which paperwork and court benches were set alight.

Clive Burke, 62, is accused of causing the fire at Cambridge County Court on Monday, which led to the building being evacuated.

He was arrested at Cambridge Railway Station, where a controlled explosion was carried out on his car.

Burke, of Denny End Road, Waterbeach, Cambridge, was charged with arson, assault, and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon.

He will appear at Cambridge Magistrates' Court later.
