Police were investigating today after a man was found dead in a lay-by with gunshot wounds.
A murder investigation was launched after the body of the man was found in the secluded lay-by on Litherop Lane, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, at 10.24pm yesterday.
Detectives said it was thought the man, who is believed to be in his 40s and from the Wakefield area of West Yorkshire, had been shot.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to discover the cause of death.
The scene was cordoned off today while forensic officers examined the area.
Detective Superintendent Chris Thompson, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of Litherop Lane yesterday evening who may have seen any suspicious activity.
"Were you driving through this secluded area and saw or heard anything unusual? If so, I want to hear from you."Reuse content
