Man killed in Uxbridge, west London, amid series of gun shots that 'sounded like fireworks'

A murder investigation has been launched

Police are hunting for a killer who is on the loose after a man was shot dead last night.

A 38-year-old man was fatally wounded at the junction of residential streets Vine Lane and St Andrew’s Road metres away from a luxury apartment complex in Uxbridge, west London, shortly before 7pm.

Residents told the Evening Standard that they heard a flurry of five or six shots that “sounded like fireworks”.

A murder investigation has been launched after police were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a shooting, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene an hour later.

Police are in the process of informing next of kin and a post-mortem examination will be held.

Metropolitan Police said no arrests had been made and that inquiries are ongoing.

Road closures have been in place at the scene this morning as forensic teams are searching the area, said Uxbridge and South Ruislip parliamentary candidate Chris Summers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police incident room on 0208 358 0300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
