A man alleged to be carrying a fake or stolen police ID was arrested at Windsor Castle yesterday on suspicion of imper-sonating a police officer.

Scotland Yard said a man and woman were arrested at 4:15pm after the man allegedly tried to pass himself off as a policeman. The pair were being questioned at a police station in London last night.

Police were understood to be investigating whether they may have been undercover reporters.

The arrests were made in the "public area" of the castle grounds. A police spokesman said: "It is not believed that security was breached."

Royal security has been a particular concern since Aaron Barschak, a self-styled "comedy terrorist", gatecrashed Prince William's 21st birthday party. A Daily Mirror journalist, Ryan Parry, also got a job as a royal servant and reported on life inside Buckingham Palace. Last year, Buckingham Palace undertook a major review of royal protection.
