Police hunting the killer of a woman who was stabbed to death said a man's body was found in a city centre car park today.

A man and woman were attacked in their home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, last night, and the female victim, 69, died from her injuries, while the male victim was still in hospital.

West Yorkshire Police said another man's body was found at a multi-storey car park in Hanover Street, Manchester earlier today.

His death was not believed to be suspicious.

The man remains in a serious condition, West Yorkshire Police said.

A murder probe is under way.

West Yorkshire Police said: "The man and woman had sustained stab wounds. Both were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

"The woman has since died of her injuries and the man remains in a serious condition although his injuries are not thought to be life threatening."

Police said the incident was a "targeted attack" related to domestic incident.

At least 10 police cars were at the scene last night, a witness said.

An employee at Bradley Park Golf Club saw a lot of marked vehicles outside the house when she left work at 8.30pm yesterday, and about six were there today when she returned.

She said: "It has happened in quite a residential area.

"I think there's a school nearby, and a pub about half a mile away.

"There is still lots of police activity there, I would say there's six officers and a couple of vans."

Local councillor Jean Calvert was shocked Huddersfield had been hit by another murder only days after shopkeeper Gurmail Singh, 63, was killed during an armed raid.

Four appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering and robbing him.

Ms Calvert said: "This is another dreadful incident.

"The other murder only happened a couple of miles away.

"I am quite shocked this could happen here."

She said Bradley Road was a busy route for drivers trying to get on to the M62, but remained "a very nice area".
