Two men are being questioned today over the seizure of 1.4 million euro worth of cocaine.
Gardai also discovered 60,000 euro worth of cannabis resin during a raid on a house in Athlone yesterday evening.
Two men, aged 42 and 43 years, were arrested and are being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act at Athlone Garda Station.
They can be held for seven days.
The drugs, suspected to be 20 kilos of cocaine and five kilos of cannabis resin, have been held for technical analysis.
Officers from the Westmeath Divisional Drug Unit were supported by local Gardai during the operation.
