Mother killed by lorry when crossing road in Bolton

A woman was killed by a lorry while crossing the road with her 20-month-old son in his pushchair.

Dawn Graves, 25, is believed to have gone to the shops for a pint of milk when the tragedy happened, at around 12.20pm yesterday on Bury Road in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

Ms Graves was pushing her son across the road when they were in collision with the lorry.

Emergency services were called and Ms Graves was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Sgt Matt Bailey-Smith from Greater Manchester Police said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.

"They are receiving support from a specially trained officer.

"An investigation is under way and I ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have information to contact us."
