Murder accused teen weeps over 'abuse'

A teenage girl accused of murder broke down and wept today as she told the Old Bailey she had been abused at the age of 12

The 15-year-old and a boy, also 15, deny murdering her alleged attacker, 45-year-old Robert Daley.

They were both 14 at the time and cannot be identified because of their ages.

Mr Daley, an unemployed man who drank and took crack cocaine, was found dead with five stab wounds at his flat in Brixton, south London, in April.

In January, the girl said she rang police to complain that Mr Daley had molested her and was now making advances to her sister.

The case was later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Asked about the alleged abuse, the girl said she had been indecently assaulted by him twice.

She wiped away tears and took a sip of water before continuing.

"He touched me," she sobbed.

Her sister had phoned her on the day Mr Daley died to say he had telephoned and was "talking s***".

She had asked the defendants to collect her clothes from the flat and seemed agitated.

The boy has told the court he stabbed Mr Daley to free the girl who had allegedly been grabbed by him in an attempt to assault her.

The trial was adjourned to tomorrow.
