A man has been charged with the murder of his eight-year-old daughter.

Mylee Billingham was found with knife wounds at his house in Walsall last month, West Midlands Police said.

The force added that William Billingham, known as Bill, had been charged with her murder and also with “making threats to kill”.

The 54-year-old “was arrested following the incident and was taken to hospital where he received treatment for injuries he had received”, it added.

“He was discharged from hospital on 9 February and taken into police custody to be interviewed. Police are continuing to support Mylee’s family at this tragic time and are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.”

Mr Billingham has been remanded in custody and will appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court later this week, the force added.

Mylee’s mother is not believed to have lived at the property where the tragedy happened.

Her daughter was a pupil at the St James Primary School in Brownhills, where pupils and staff were offered support and counselling.

The eight-year-old’s uncle, former SAS sergeant major Mark Billingham, who appears in the Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins, issued a short statement on behalf of the family after her death. He asked for their privacy to be respected.
