A man has been charged with murdering a woman stabbed to death as she walked to work.

Trevor Gibbon, 48, of Harrow, north-west London, will appear before Hendon Magistrates' Court charged with killing neighbour Alison Morrison today.

Police were called to Alexandria Avenue after hearing screams at 7.47am on Thursday and despite being taken immediately to St Mary's Hospital, in Paddington, Mrs Morrison later died from multiple stab wounds.

Today, her family paid tribute to a “warm and loving person who will be deeply missed by her husband and son.”

Mrs Morrison was vice-chair of the area's Safer Neighbourhood Board.

The leader of Harrow Council, David Perry, said: "Alison Morrison was passionately committed to creating a safer Harrow through her work with the Harrow Safer Neighbourhood Board and as a community champion, and it is terrible news that she has lost her life in this violent way in a borough she cared so much about.”

“Our thoughts are with Alison's family,” he added.
