Two students filmed themselves raping a woman who had passed out drunk and distributed images of the attack to a friend via WhatsApp, a court has heard.

Jesse Burgoine, 28, and Artjom Nepryahin, 25, are accused of deliberately targeting the woman in a nightclub, before taking her home and raping her while she was unconscious.

They allegedly took the woman’s pulse before attacking her on a sofa and then sending images of the attack to a third friend on a WhatsApp group titled ‘The Gruesome Threesome’.

The two men are standing trial at Nottingham Crown Court, the Daily Telegraph reports. The court has heard that the pair were university rowers who met while students at Nottingham University. The woman, who has not been named, said that she had been on a night out when she became separated from friends after having a lot to drink. She said: “That night I was with a few friends, celebrating the end of term. I met these two guys just drinking, and I couldn't find my friends so I decided to leave.

"The next thing I remember is being in these two guys apartment and I'm on the sofa and one man is to the right of me. I came round and realised what was going on. I'm saying 'No, no, stop.'

"This went on for a few minutes. They wouldn't stop. I kept trying to push them away. I was just moaning at them to go, making noises.

"I ended up just having to pretend I had passed out, so that they would leave me alone. One of them just stopped and walked away. He didn't say anything. The other man didn't stop when I played dead. He carried on for about 10 seconds.

"I had my eyes closed, but I could hear them murmuring. I decided to make a run out of there. I wanted to go home, I wanted to go to mum's house instead. I just needed my mum.

“When I got there I locked the door behind me, went up to my mum's room and just collapsed. I told her what happened and just cried. I was a mess. I blamed myself, because I was so drunk. When you are drunk then you don't know what's going on. It was scary.”

The woman reported the allegation to the police and the men were subsequently arrested.

Both men deny the allegations and say that although intercourse occurred it was consensual.

The trial continues.
