Old Bailey trial for Ukrainian accused of terror-related murder of 82-year-old grandfather

A Ukrainian man accused of the terror-related murder of an 82-year-old grandfather as he walked home from a mosque will face trial at the Old Bailey next year.

Pavlo Lapshyn, a postgraduate student from Dnipropetrovsk, has been charged with murdering Mohammed Saleem in Birmingham in April.

The 25-year-old is also being charged with three further offences related to three explosions near mosques in Walsall, Wolverhampton and Tipton.

He appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh prison, dressed in black. He will remain in custody until the trial, with a date set for 14 January.
