Police appeal for witnesses to street shooting

Detectives appealed for information today after a man was shot in the head in the street.

Police were called to reports of a shooting in Clements Road, Rotherhithe, south east London, shortly after 2am.

They found a man, believed to be aged in his twenties, suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

London Ambulance Service paramedics took him to a south London hospital where his injuries were described as life-threatening.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Inquiries to establish the victim's identify and trace any next of kin are under way.

"Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC) are investigating and an open mind is being kept as regards a motive."
