A lorry driver who scaled an 8ft-high gate to get into the grounds of Windsor Castle while drunk has been banned from pubs for a year.

Robert Pennefather, 32, from the Irish Republic, entered the royal residence in the early hours of 6 November last year. He was given a suspended 14-day prison sentence after admitting trespassing at Westminster magistrates' court. Although he came within 20m of the Queen's private apartments, magistrate Howard Riddle said he posed no risk.
