A gunman has been jailed for at least 33 years for killing a man in a ride-by shooting.

Jordan Burree, 24, of West Molesey, Surrey, was convicted at the Old Bailey last week of murdering Sadiq Adebiyi, 25.

Mr Adebiyi was hit by three bullets from a Mac-10 machine gun near Stockwell Underground station in south London in May.

The shots were fired by Burree as he rode pillion on a motorcycle which disappeared into the nearby Patmore estate.

Today, Burree was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 33 years.

Judge Timothy Pontius said eight bullets had been fired in a busy area.

He added: "It is, in my view, little short of a miracle that no- one else was killed.

"This was an utterly cold-blooded and obviously planned execution-style murder."

The judge said he believed Mr Adebiyi had been targeted and that Burree and his accomplice were not working alone.

Burree was jailed for three years in 2007 for having a gun at a trial in which he was cleared of murdering Fabian Ricketts, 18.

Mr Adebiyi's father, Sharif, told the court in a statement that the killing had traumatised his family and he feared for his other children.

The Old Bailey heard that CCTV footage caught Burree and another man, who has not been caught, on the bike driving into the estate.

Jonathan Turner QC, prosecuting, said: "Having arrived, they disposed of their helmets and outer clothing and gun."

Tadzingwa Gambiza, 20, then took over, getting on the bike and riding off.

But he was seen by police officers in a car and was arrested after a short chase which resulted in him crashing into a traffic bollard.

Gambiza, of Wandsworth, south London, was found guilty of perverting justice. He was remanded in custody for sentencing next month.

Mr Adebiyi lived near the scene of the shooting but police do not know the motive for the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Hutchison said: "Sadiq Adebiyi was shot down in cold blood on a busy street.

"He appears to have been targeted as a possible member of a rival gang rather than because he was personally known to his murderers.

"This highlights the danger this kind of mindless gang conflict poses to young people in some areas.

"A number of people witnessed some of the events that night but have been unwilling to help us."
