Saline link to seventh victim

Wednesday 04 April 2012 20:39 BST

A seventh patient who died at Stepping Hill Hospital in Greater Manchester is thought to have been poisoned with insulin

Beryl Hope, 70, died last August following the deliberate contamination of saline solution between June and July 2011, police said yesterday.

Detectives say they "re-categorised" her case after a thorough review with medical specialists.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "It is now believed Beryl Hope... was poisoned by products contaminated with insulin. It is not known whether the poisoning contributed to her death.

"Detectives are continuing to investigate and review the cases of 21 other patients, including six others who have died."
