Six men were today arrested after a man's body was set on fire by the side of a motorway, police said.

A murder investigation was launched after the victim's body was dumped and set alight on an embankment beside the M45 near Dunchurch, near Rugby, Warwickshire, on 30 December.

Police said today they believe the man was from the east London area and that the murder happened in the capital.

All six men currently in custody are from east London.

The victim has been identified but officers say they will not release the information until his family have been informed.

The investigation has now been transferred from Warwickshire Police to the Metropolitan Police force.

A post-mortem examination showed the man suffered substantial head injuries and was dead before he was set on fire.
