Team GB star Phillips Idowu banned for drink-driving

Former Olympic triple jumper Phillips Idowu has been banned from driving and ordered to do community service after he admitted fleeing a domestic argument in his Land Rover while two and a half times the legal alcohol limit.

Idowu pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court yesterday, with his solicitor saying he was “forced him to leave the house in a hurry” last month to “get away from the circumstances which had unfolded at the house”.
