Thieves slash lorry to steal lingerie

Thieves stole nearly £250,000 of lingerie and shoes when they cut the side of a parked lorry, police said today.

The haul included tights, hold-ups and stockings from Next, as well as ladies' tan wedge shoes and suede shoes.

They were taken from a lorry on Paddy's Lane, Old Dalby, Leicestershire, some time between 9pm last Tuesday (September 15) and 4am the following day, a force spokesman said.

Pc Paul Anderson, from Leicestershire Police, said: "Given the volume of items taken it is very likely that there was more than one person involved in the robbery or a vehicle was used to transfer the goods away from the scene.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the Paddy's Lane area overnight last Tuesday and Wednesday who thinks they may have seen anything suspicious.

"We would also like to urge people to keep a lookout for anyone selling the items described, with such a high number of stolen goods it is likely that they will try and sell them on.

"Alternatively, if you know someone who has acquired items similar to those we described that are from Next and you are suspicious of how they obtained them, we would like you to call us."
