Three charged over group attack
Three people were charged with attempted murder today after violent clashes between white and Asian groups, police said.
A 17-year-old boy was caught up in the violence in May last year and left with bleeding to the brain which required emergency surgery.
Greater Manchester Police said a group of around 12 white men and boys were set upon by Asian attackers in Denehurst Park, Greave.
Following the fight, another three people were attacked at Rochdale golf course and still more at Heaton Park tram station.
Today Ajay Singh, 18, of Fulford Street, Old Trafford, and two 17-year-olds who cannot be named, were charged with attempted murder, violent disorder, robbery and affray.
Another man, Faizan Samirudin, 18, of Grosvenor House Mews, Crumpsall, had already been charged with attempted murder and is now also accused of violent disorder, robbery and affray.
Five boys, all 17, were also charged with violent disorder, robbery and affray. Three are from Old Trafford, one is from Whalley Range and another is from Stretford.
All those accused will appeared at Rochdale Magistrates' Court on 6 July.
