Three in court over stabbing of young mother

Three people will appear in court today in connection with the death of a mother of four.

Gail Russell, 26, died in hospital from her injuries after an incident in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, on Saturday night.

She was stabbed outside her house in Small Crescent at about 9.15pm and taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride.

Two men aged 29 and 22 and a 24-year-old woman were arrested and are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court in South Lanarkshire today in connection with the death.

A report was sent to the procurator fiscal.
