Tributes for young talented musician Dale "Deezy" Gordon - who was said to have the "voice of an angel" - flooded onto social media after he was killed in an attack on Saturday night.

Dale, 20, was kicked and punched and left with serious injuries before police officers found him collapsed on the ground after residents called them to Netherbury Close, Gorton in Greater Manchester, at 10.15pm.

He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary where he died in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Up-and-coming rap talent Dale was known for freestyling and is said to have previously auditioned for a place on the X Factor in a hope to get a big break.

His family, friends and fans left messages paying tribute to his character and music skills on Twitter and Facebook while expressing their shock at the news of his death.

A Facebook page named "R.i.p dale/deezy" with 650 'Likes' so far has been set up for his friends, family and community to pay their respects.

Kira-su Martin said: "My sweet angel cant wait for the day we meet again but in the mean time feel free to visit me in my dreams"

Carole Tinning said: "What a tragic waste of a young life and an amazing talent. R.I.P xx"

Julie O'driscoll Jones said: "Another young life taken , and a mother having to say goodbye to her baby. My thoughts are with the family R.I.P DALE"

Police are hunting two male suspects, described as black or mixed race in their mid to late 20s, who were seen reversing from the cul-de-sac where Dale was attacked in a grey or silver car, possibly a hatchback, Manchester Evening News reported.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This was a brutal and sustained attack, which appears to have been unprovoked.

"The victim was punched and kicked to the ground. This wasn’t a quick, spur of the moment altercation. They were there long enough for people to see what was going on. He has sadly succumbed to his injuries."

Officers believe that Dale met the men at the scene after arriving there on a moped, but it is not known whether he arranged to meet them in the residential area or if it was a chance encounter.
