Two men will appear in court tomorrow charged with murdering a former police officer.

Leicestershire Constabulary said the men, aged 22 and 24, were being kept in police custody and would appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court charged with killing Paul Fyfe.

Mr Fyfe, who is reported to have left the Leicestershire force around six years ago, was found dead at a house in the Rowlatts Hill area of Leicester early on Friday.

A post-mortem examination established that the 47-year-old had died from a single stab wound to the chest.

A police spokesman said a third man arrested in connection with Mr Fyfe's death had now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Harrison, who is leading the investigation, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything that might help us find out what happened.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Balderstone Close between midnight and 2.30 in the morning."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers directly on 0116 222 2222 or the Crimestoppers service on 0800 555 111.
