Three people have been arrested in Walsall on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences.
Two men, aged 21 and 27, and a 21-year-old woman were detained at their home addresses in Walsall at about 6am today, West Midlands Police said.
The arrests were made by officers from West Midlands counter-terrorism unit, which said the operation was pre-planned and intelligence-led.
A police spokesman said: "There was no immediate threat to public safety.
"Searches are now being carried out at eight associated addresses in the Walsall area and one in Moseley, Birmingham."
Under terrorism legislation, officers have an initial 48 hours to question the suspects before charging, releasing or applying for a warrant for further detention.
