A HUGE security operation was launched in South Armagh yesterday after a soldier, aged 18, was killed by the IRA. Private Paul Turner, unmarried, from Hereford, was shot in the chest by a sniper on Friday as he crossed the centre of Crossmaglen. He joined the army about two years ago and was part of a patrol from 2nd Battalion, the Light Infantry Regiment. Parts of the town were still sealed off last night as the killer was sought.
