The Government rejected calls for a public inquiry into the drowning of two brothers by their schizophrenic mother in East Sussex. Tim Yeo, the health minister, said the case was within the remit of an inquiry into homicides and suicides by people under the care of or discharged by specialist psychiatric services. The mother, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter, was committed to a psychiatric unit.
