A farmer who tried to kidnap a receiver at gunpoint in a row over a pounds 9m bank debt was given a suspended prison sentence. Maidstone Crown Court was told Hughie Batchelor, 68, of Maidstone, Kent, and his son had given their 4,000-acre farm as security on monies owed to Barclays Bank in Maidstone.
