Five in gold fraud jailed
FIVE MEMBERS of a pounds 35m gold- smuggling ring were jailed for between two and five years at Southwark Crown Court, London, yesterday. The two minders, two couriers and a jeweller-receiver included relatives of the gang's mastermind Robert Neil, 54, who will be sentenced next month.
Neil's father-in-law, Patrick Cogley, 59, of Flitwick, Bedfordshire, was jailed for three years; his stepson Michael Taylor, 26, of Islington, north London, for two. The couriers - Marvina Houghton, 44, a company director, of Weymouth, Dorset, and Norma Boxall, 46, of Croydon, south London - were jailed for three years, and Subash Jogia, 36, a jeweller, of Harrow, London, for five.
